Amanda Flores is a Houston, Texas native who has been making art since she was a child. Her passion for art came at an early age. As a self taught artist, Amanda paints and draws professionally. She also teaches Spanish at South Houston High School. After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Spanish, with a minor in Education, from the University of Houston, she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Instruction in Technology at the University of St. Thomas.
“I love reading about heroic characters and their tragic background stories, which makes them the strong spirit that’s represented in their story, and I try to convey that essence in my paintings. My goal is to motivate and encourage my students to build knowledge of the Spanish language and the world of art.”
When Amanda is not painting, you will find her at vendor markets, shows, and conventions, reading comics representing current heroes or heroines that talk about justice, and teaching Spanish and art to young adults. Her work has been presented in many markets and art shows such as Pancake and Booze, Thorn and Moon, and Comicpalooza.
